TODAY THROUGH MONDAY: Heavy rain will continue on through the afternoon. The heaviest rain is setting up over northern New Jersey and the Hudson Valley, along and ahead of an advancing warm front. The cold front will move through the region by this afternoon with a few embedded thunderstorms with in the rain. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches will be possible on top of the 1 to 3 inches that has already fallen. Temperatures will hold in the mid 60’s to lower 70’s for highs. Winds will veer from the southeast to northwest around 5 to 15 mph. Tonight, the rain will end in the early evening followed by clearing conditions. Temperatures will fall into the mid 40’s to lower 50’s for lows. Winds will be from the northwest around 5 to 15 mph. High pressure will produce clear and dry conditions Sunday through Monday. The first freeze of the season will be possible on Monday morning for interior northwestern New Jersey and the Hudson Valley. Temperatures will range from the lower 50’s to lower 60’s for highs and mid 20’s to mid 40’s for lows.
TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY: High pressure will remain in control Tuesday and Wednesday with clear and comfortable conditions. The first freezing temperatures of the season will be possible on Tuesday morning for many interior locations. A cold front will move through the region on Thursday with scattered showers. High pressure will build into the region on Friday with clear and much cooler conditions. Temperatures will range from the mid 30’s to upper 40’s for lows and lower 50’s to mid 60’s for highs.
