TODAY THROUGH MONDAY: A very strong low pressure system will bring heavy rain and strong winds to eastern Long Island and eastern Connecticut. Rainfall amounts of up to one inch is expected for today. Winds will be sustained at 20 to 35 mph with gusts at times to hurricane strength. The rest of the forecast area will have cloud conditions with a few scattered showers possible. Very windy conditions expected with sustained winds from the northeast around 15 to 25 mph and gusts to 45 mph. Temperatures will range from the upper 40’s to upper 50’s for highs. Tonight, the storm will depart the region with clearing conditions. Winds will decrease from the northwest around 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts. Temperatures will fall into the mid 30’s to mid 40’s for lows. On Sunday and Monday, high pressure will build into the region with clear to partly cloudy conditions. Temperatures will range from the lower 30’s to mid 40’s for lows and mid 50’s to mid 60’s for highs.
TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY: A very strong cold front will move through the region on Tuesday with scattered showers and rapidly falling temperatures behind the cold front. Partly cloudy and cold conditions will be expected on Wednesday and Thursday. A few weak disturbances may produce a few scattered showers or flurries on both days. On Friday, another area of low pressure will move towards the region with rain and/or snow showers. Temperatures will range from the mid 30’s to mid 40’s for highs and mid 20’s to mid 30’s for lows through the period.
