Severe Thunderstorms For New York City Metro, More To Come

An area of strong to severe thunderstorms will continue to move through northeastern New Jersey and much of New York City.  These thunderstorms are producing large hail, frequent lightning, wind gusts over 65 mph, and very heavy downpours.  Expect flash flooding over much of the 5 boroughs of New York City and western Long Island along with much of northeastern New Jersey including Newark, New Jersey. 

This will not be the last series of thunderstorms for the forecast area.  A line of strong to severe thunderstorms is currently developing over Pennsylvania and central New York, which is producing strong straight line winds, frequent lightning, and large hail.  These thunderstorms will impact the forecast area later this evening.

Although tornadoes have not developed over the forecast area, some thunderstorms will still be capable of producing isolated tornadoes through this evening. 

As for me, lost power for a while so I couldn’t post.  However I can attest that these thunderstorms have been especially nasty over Monmouth County.  More later!
