Severe Weather Today
ByNo wide spread severe weather is expected today. However, as a strong upper low and long wave trough rotates through the eastern United States, a few isolated strong to severe thunderstorms may develop along the Gulf Coast, Southeast, Ohio Valley, and Northeast this afternoon. The largest risk from these thunderstorms will be large hail and wind gusts to 60 mph.
Meanwhile, due to some thermal mixing, a few isolated severe thunderstorms may develop over the Rockies in response to an unstable environment. Otherwise, the majority of the United States will have quiet conditions.
