Severe Weather Today

The main threat for concentrated severe weather will be over the northern Rockies where a strong upper disturbance will move through eastern Montana.  The strongest thunderstorms will produce large hail, strong wind gusts, heavy downpours, and frequent lightning.

Otherwise, much of the CONUS will be quiet with a few isolated severe thunderstorms over the Mid Atlantic through the Ohio Valley in response to a stalling cold front.  A few isolated severe thunderstorms will also be possible over the Southeast and Gulf Coast due to diurnal heating.
