Hurricane Ike Intensifying And Approaching Galveston
Hurricane Ike appears to be strengthening based on the latest radar images. Very strong thunderstorms are rotating through the northeastern coast of Texas, especially over Galveston. The center of Ike has become much better defined in the past 30 minutes. The convection has completely wrapped around Hurricane Ike and has solidified. The center of Ike appears to be moving directly towards Galveston and just south of Galveston Bay, which would drive a 15 to 22 foot storm surge right into the Bay.
More to come.
