Coastal Low Slowly Exits, Strong Cold On The Way
The coastal low off the Mid Atlantic coast apparently likes the area, as the low pressure system continues to sit over the forecast area. As a result, clouds and a weakening northeasterly wind will persist through the afternoon hours. Regardless, temperatures will warm into the mid to upper 60’s throughout the forecast area, which will make for a very nice late fall day.
Meanwhile, a strong cold front will move towards the forecast area tonight and move through the forecast area tomorrow. The unstable, warm, and humid air mass will be in place over the forecast area ahead of the cold front, however the best dynamics will move to the north of the forecast area. As a result, while I don’t expect severe thunderstorms at this time, the potential for strong thunderstorms still exits. The PVA will move through the forecast area around 12 to 4 PM tomorrow, which is when I expect the cold front and associated thunderstorms to move through.
Strong high pressure will build into the forecast area on Saturday night and Sunday with clearing skies and much cooler temperatures.
