Temperatures Falling To Supportive Levels For Accumulations
As we watch the precipitation build over southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey, I quickly want to cover the issue of the surface temperatures.
For the most part, temperatures range from the lower to mid 30’s throughout the forecast area. I think in this situation, that snow will accumulate at 32 to 34 degrees and I feel most locations will fall into or below that range as we progress through the evening. In fact, the observations suggest that the “real” snow line (not the one seen on the radar) is over southern New Jersey rather than central New Jersey. So as we go forward in the next few hours, expect to see the coverage of snow showers continue to increase initially over southern portions of the forecast area and expand to the north and east as we continue to watch the coastal low take shape.
