Clear skies and dry conditions are expected this afternoon through Monday morning as weak high pressure move through the region. A weak disturbance will produce isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the most significant threat over the Long Island Sound, on late Monday afternoon through early Tuesday morning. Weak high pressure will return with dry conditions through the rest of Tuesday afternoon. However, yet another weak disturbance will produce isolated showers in the evening. Otherwise partly cloudy skies can be expected. High pressure will bring clear to partly cloudy skies on Wednesday.
Winds will be from the west around 5 to 15 mph this afternoon through this evening. Winds will veer to the north around 5 to 10 mph tonight. With high pressure overhead, winds will be light and variable on Monday morning, however by the afternoon winds will be from the west around 5 to 15 mph. By Monday evening, winds will increase from the west and southwest around 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph over the open waters. Winds will remain from the southwest around 10 to 20 mph through Tuesday afternoon. As a cold front passes, winds will veer to the north around 10 to 20 mph on Tuesday night through Wednesday.
Temperatures will rise into the upper 70’s to mid 80’s this afternoon. On Monday, temperatures will fall into the lower to mid 60’s for lows and rebound into the upper 70’s to mid 80’s for highs. On Tuesday, temperatures will fall into the lower to mid 60’s for lows and rebound into the upper 70’s to mid 80’s for highs. On Wednesday, temperatures will fall into the lower to mid 60’s for lows and rebound into the upper 70’s to mid 80’s for highs.
Water temperatures will range from the mid 60’s east of Long Island, upper 60’s to lower 70’s along the central and southern New Jersey coastal waters, and lower to mid 70’s in the Delaware Bay.
Wave heights will range from the 2 to 4 feet with higher swells in and around thunderstorms throughout the period.
