Boat and beach report for Tuesday, July 14 2009

Clear skies and comfortable conditions can be expected today through tomorrow evening as high pressure remains in control of the region.  A weak cold front will approach on Tuesday night with increasing clouds.  On Wednesday, the cold front will move through the region with widely scattered showers and thunderstorms, otherwise partly cloudy skies are expected.

Winds will be from the west around 5 to 10 mph through this afternoon.  Tonight, winds will veer from the west to northwest around 5 to 10 mph.  On Wednesday, winds will back to the southwest around 5 to 10 mph.  Winds will remain from the southwest through Wednesday, but increase to 5 to 15 mph.

Temperatures will rise into the upper 70’s to lower 80’s for afternoon highs today.  On Wednesday, temperatures will fall into the lower 60’s for morning lows and rebound into the upper 70’s to lower 80’s for afternoon highs.  On Thursday, temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 60’s for morning lows and rebound into the lower to mid 80’s for afternoon highs.

Water temperatures will range from the upper 60’s to lower 70’s over the Long Island Sound, northern New Jersey coastal waters, and east of Long Island; lower to mid 70’s over the central and southern New Jersey coastal waters; and upper 70’s to lower 80’s in the Delaware Bay and Delaware River.

Wave heights will range from 2 to 4 feet through the period.
