Tropical Weather Update for Wednesday, July 15 2009
7:25 AM
A trough over the western Caribbean continues to produce inhibiting wind shear from the central Gulf of Mexico through the western Caribbean. No development is expected over these locations through the next 48 hours.
The central Caribbean remains quiet with strong high pressure in control, which will provide clear skies for the region. However, it should be noted that the upper level environment has grown more conducive for tropical development.
Meanwhile, activity continues to perk up over the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone with several weak tropical waves showing better organization this morning than what has been seen over the past 50 days. The upper level environment remains some what favorable for tropical development, with a few exceptions where upper level eastern winds may produce shear due to the strong speed of the upper level jet stream. No development is expected for the next 48 hours, however this area of the Atlantic through the African coast bares watching.
