Let the shoveling begin!
9:05 AM
It is now time for the worst part of a winter storm, the shoveling. A few tips on shoveling snow, especially this snow.
1. Get a fell for the wind! This is a very light and powdery snowfall. That means that while you are shoveling, the snow will tend to blow back. To minimize this impact, shovel the snow in the direction of the wind thus letting the wind cary the snow away from where you are shoveling.
2. Cover up your hands and head. It’s cold outside! Cover up so you don’t get frost bite or worse.
3. Keep a large supply of hot chocolate or hot coffee. This is a special rule for anyone staying inside while someone else is outside shoveling. Nothing better after a period of shoveling snow then to come in to a hot beverage and maybe some cookies.
4. Finish before NFL games!
5. Make sure you come back here this afternoon and evening as I’ll have an overview of this storm, a look at the upcoming week, and a discussion about the future of this web site!
