The following storm reports are from a series of thunderstorms that reached severe levels over the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas. A strong disturbance over New England moved through central New York and central Pennsylvania towards the northern Mid Atlantic. Two distinct areas of thunderstorms developed. One area formed over the Hudson Valley and Connecticut on southeastward towards Long Island. The other area formed over central Pennsylvania towards the southeast coast of New Jersey. Due to the lack of wind shear, there were no thunderstorms that exhibited strong rotation, however with a very cold mid level environment in place, large hail and strong wind gusts were a significant impact, especially over Nassau and Queens Counties of New York.
