Warm conditions on the way out

Screen Shot 2012-12-18 at 8.15.03 AMA cold front over the Ohio River Valley will move through the New York City and Philadelphia metropolitan areas by this afternoon.  The cold front will produce widely scattered showers this afternoon as the cold front exits off the coast, otherwise scattered clouds can be expect.  Winds will veer from the southwest to northwest at 5 to 15 mph with gusts over 20 mph.  Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid 50’s over the interior and mid to upper 50’s along the coast ahead of the cold front.

Tonight, high pressure will build into the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas with clearing skies.  High pressure will remain in control through Thursday afternoon with scattered cloud cover.  Winds will be from the west and northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Temperatures will range from the lower to mid 30’s for lows and mid 40’s to lower 50’s for highs.  The warmest conditions can be expected along the coast.

On Friday morning, a powerful cold front will blast through the region with moderate to heavy rain, potentially ending as snow.  Moderate to heavy rainfall can be expected with the passage of the cold front followed by falling temperatures through the afternoon.  Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 40’s in the morning followed by falling temperatures into the 30’s.

High pressure will be in control Friday night on through Monday with scattered cloud cover and windy conditions.  Temperatures will range from the mid 20’s to lower 30’s for lows and mid to upper 30’s for highs.
