On Sunday, August 9 2009 a warm front slowly pushed through the forecast area with widely scattered showers initially. A strong mid level and upper level disturbance moved along the warm front from the Great Lakes into eastern Pennsylvania. This strong disturbance, enhanced by a strong jet streak at 500 and 850 MB, produced a Mesoscale Convective System or MCS that produced a line of strong to severe thunderstorms. These thunderstorms produced very strong wind gusts, heavy rain, and frequent lightning.
