While a very strong severe thunderstorm continues to push northeastward through Berks County and into Lehigh County, Pennsylvania; the thunderstorms to the south and southwest over Lancaster and western Chester Counties continue to intensify. For most of the forecast area, the forecasted ice and snow totals verified via reports from the National Weather Service. The precipitation over the Mid Atlantic is starting to show significant signs of back building, which indicates that the coastal low’s influence is starting to take hold. Of specific importance is the precipitation redeveloping and expanding over southwestern New Jersey, Delaware, and extreme eastern Maryland around Galena.

The severe thunderstorms over Chester and Montgomery Counties of Pennsylvania have produced hail over 1 inch in diameter this morning. Official spotter observations from the National Weather service have reported hail size ranging from 0.50″ to 2.00″ in diameter over West Chester, Pennsylvania.
