The local forecast discussion is updated.
The weather for the forecast area is going to be a lot more active over the next three days. Tropical Storm Hanna will move towards the forecast area and produce very heavy rainfall on Saturday. In fact, rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches will be possible on Saturday from [...]

Another great day of weather as high pressure brought comfortable and pleasant conditions to the entire forecast area. The main story once again is directed towards the tropical Atlantic which is red hot with tons of action.
Hanna has weakened back to a tropical storm this evening, which was slightly surprising given the progress Hanna [...]

As Hurricane Gustav makes land fall, the tropics remain extremely active!
I’ve been following Hanna almost a week as the then tropical storm moved from northeast of the Caribbean to the Bahamas. As I was thinking, once the upper low that has been influencing Hanna moved away, Hanna would be able to intensify and organize rapidly. [...]

The tropical disturbance over the eastern Caribbean is looking very healthy this morning. A low level circulation is clearly visible in the IR satellite pictures this morning with plenty of convection surrounding the center of circulation. Cloud tops are becoming very cold, suggesting strong rising motion associated with this tropical system and favorable upper level [...]

The tropical Atlantic is starting to get rather interesting. We can now narrow down two possible disturbances that can become tropical depressions in the next 48 hours. Both disturbances are well east of the Windward Island, about 900 miles away.
The latest upper level observations would suggest that high pressure aloft will remain over the [...]

The tropical disturbance located 1400 miles to the east of the Lesser Antilles is looking very healthy this morning. I along with the NHC expect this disturbance to become a tropical depression by this afternoon or evening. There is clearly a low level circulation involved with this disturbance and showers and thunderstorms are beginning to [...]
