For the first time in five days I can say that no rain is falling at any locations throughout the New York City and Philadelphia metropolitan area!
The IR satellite picture basically tells the tale for today as clouds will continue to break up and skies will clear throughout the region. The slow moving, rainfall [...]

Clouds are already building over much of the northern Mid Atlantic this afternoon in response to the increasing moisture from the Atlantic as the high pressure system that has produced great weather conditions the past few days now exits into the Atlantic. A weak mid level disturbance was able to use some of this [...]

The pattern is certainly changing away from the cold and stormy pattern seen in February to a warmer but just as wet pattern for much of March. Influences from the Pacific and Atlantic will be felt over the Northern Mid Atlantic, but one can be sure that warmer times are ahead.
This morning, a strong [...]

A strong area of low pressure is rapidly developing along the Gulf Coast, however this storm is staying far enough south and east to not have a major impact on the region’s weather.
The “pattern changer” as I like to call it is not over the Gulf Coast however but the West coast as a [...]

This morning we can see the makings of what will be a powerful storm for this weekend as a strong Sub Tropical Disturbance now enters the western Gulf Coast. This low pressure system will race to the northeast towards the eastern Great Lakes tonight, while doing so bringing a wide variety of winter precipitation to the forecast area.
Marginally cold air is in place over the [...]

The data this morning for all periods of this forecast is pretty interesting as a cold front will be moving through today, a significant rain storm will move through later in the week, and more uncertainty on how this pattern will unfold as the month unfolds. Let’s deal with the here and now [...]

High pressure centered over New England this morning will continue to slowly give away ground as the day continues. As high pressure slowly slides to the east, clouds will continue to increase from the south and west . However, no precipitation is expected through the day. Temperatures will rise to near normal levels in [...]

Sorry for the late update. I don’t know why, but Sunday’s always seem to be the day where I sleep the most. I promise that won’t be an issue for winter storms though. Those storms are like caffeine for me.
The water vapor this morning shows us that the strong Polar/Sub Tropical phased jet stream [...]
