The Arctic Express is on the way, and this has nothing to do with Santa Claus, however for some it might seem like Christmas morning all over again.
The negative EPO is going to be doing a heck of a job driving arctic cold air into the eastern two-third of the nation through next week. [...]

High pressure is currently in control over the forecast area leading to clear skies over much of the region with cold temperatures in place. High pressure will slide to the north and east of the forecast area through the day, giving way to a weakening area of low pressure for tomorrow.

As the models waver from run to run in solutions, one constant is seen going through next week. The first is the reposition of the upper low over Canada from northern Canada to southern and southeastern Canada while a trough digs into the Pacific Northwest.

The low pressure system that is rapidly developing over the Gulf Stream is too far east to produce any type of significant precipitation over the forecast area. In fact, at most, locations along the immediate coast may see a stray flurry along the immediate coastal locations of Long Island and New Jersey. The main impact [...]

TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY:
A strong ridge is in place over the forecast area, which will continue to produce clear skies and rather cool temperatures over the next 24 hours. However, the upper level pattern remains volatile and ever changing as we progress through this month!
A very strong and impressive upper low from the [...]

The local forecast discussion is updated!
The pattern will remain rather active through the end of this month! Enjoy the quiet weather now as two major storms will impact the forecast area this weekend and potentially for early next week! Also, the 2008/09 winter forecast can be read below and on it’s own page to the [...]
