There are some indications that I’ve seen in the past hour that has me a bit worried about significant ice for central, western, and northern New Jersey and much of eastern Pennsylvania.
At this point, most model guidance had the low level cold air pushed out of central and southern New Jersey and warm air [...]

The first observation I noticed throughout the forecast area was how dry the air was. This is a big deal everyone for one simple reason. Evaporational cooling.
The precipitation seen over Delaware and Maryland will slowly push north today, as high pressure gives way over the next 8 to 12 hours. Clouds will continue to [...]

The coastal low is rapidly taking over as the primary low as pressures fall off the Delaware coast. The precipitation shield should be watched for some “back building” over eastern Pennsylvania through late morning and into the early afternoon. Be careful with those winter radar images this morning. While rain is falling over west central and southwestern New Jersey, temperatures are being reported below freezing suggesting freezing rain is falling over locations such as Wrightstown (31), Mount Holly (29), and Philadelphia (30).
The CAD over the forecast area appears to be holding nicely. [...]

Now I know some of you have noticed that the precipitation is breaking up a bit over southern New Jersey and Delaware, however this is just a break in the precipitation. The low pressure system along the cold front is still well to the southwest over Kentucky and will move through the forecast area [...]

A band of moderate snowfall is moving through the Delaware Bay and will move across southern and eventually central New Jersey in the next 4 hours. This band of snowfall will reduce visibility below a 2 miles and increase the potential for accumulations over an inch of snow.
Meanwhile, I can report snowfall accumulations have [...]

The precipitation over the Mid Atlantic is starting to show significant signs of back building, which indicates that the coastal low’s influence is starting to take hold. Of specific importance is the precipitation redeveloping and expanding over southwestern New Jersey, Delaware, and extreme eastern Maryland around Galena.
Another area of development can be seen over [...]
