As the cold front stalls over the New Jersey coast this afternoon, some of the low clouds have broken and has allowed the sun to break through. As a result, the atmosphere is warming and becoming unstable. With the frontal boundary remaining an area of focused low level lifting, this means the development of [...]

A strong Mesoscale Convective System or MCS is currently moving through the Ohio Valley this morning behind a warm front that ismoving through western Pennsylvania. The MCS is supported by a mid level disturbance that is moving east along the frontal boundary and will approach the forecast area by late this afternoon. While I [...]

There’s a lot to discuss this morning, so lets dive right into it!
An impressive line of thunderstorms has developed early this morning in response to the strong low level jet stream at 950 and 850 MB this morning. The warm front continues to lift north and eastward, but is having some difficulty doing so [...]

A preview of the a potentially very active afternoon was seen this afternoon over much of southern Monmouth and Ocean counties of New Jersey this afternoon. A weak disturbance, a remnant from the MCS that impacted much of the Mid West early this morning, sparked off a cluster of showers and thunderstorms. These thunderstorms [...]

Strong shear continues to dominate much of the Tropical Atlantic this morning as a strong upper low continues to rotate over the central Tropical Atlantic. As a result, a strong upper level jet stream is cutting through the western Caribbean towards the African coast, which is inhibiting any type of development over the Atlantic.

Weak high pressure is exiting off this coast through this afternoon while a very weak cold front is pushing south through New England and the eastern Great Lakes this morning. This cold front will be a key player through much of this coming weak, as I will explain shortly.

The tropical Atlantic remains quiet this morning as strong westerly upper level winds dominates much of the tropical Atlantic. The strong westerly winds are producing shear throughout the Tropics which will continue to inhibit development of any tropical system. Once again, I am going to keep an eye on the Gulf of Mexico this [...]

The tropical Atlantic remains generally quiet this morning however there is one interesting area that I will continue to keep an eye on. Last night I noticed that convection continued to rapidly develop and move towards the central Gulf Coast. This convection developed due to the influences of a disturbance over the southern Plains [...]

No significant changes have been observed from yesterday in terms of tropical development. Strong shear is still present over much of the Tropical Atlantic, inhibiting any type of development. I am keeping an eye on the Gulf of Mexico however. Currently, southwesterly upper level winds will produce too much shear over this region to [...]

A weakening cold front is currently pressing through central Pennsylvania this morning with showers and weak thunderstorms racing towards much of eastern Pennsylvania. The cold front the past six hours is significantly weakening with surface pressures along the cold front boundary rising at a rate of 1 to 2 MB per hour. This basically [...]
