Clear skies once again reign supreme as high pressure continues to slowly slide through the Ohio Valley. The sinking air over the region, which has developed due to the interaction of the [...]

I have a feeling that I am going to be a very busy meteorologist through the New Year. The active, cold pattern is well on the way of forming and organizing and the agreement on the GFS and ECMWF in the medium and long range guidance of the overall pattern structure is nearly uncanny. [...]

The rainfall that is approaching the northern Mid Atlantic this evening is far from impressive. In fact, most of the rainfall is focused over the
Mohawk Valley and central Hudson Valleys of New York rather than the Mid Atlantic. Note that a line of showers and a few thunderstorms is forming over western/central Pennsylvania, which [...]

A major coastal storm will be developing this afternoon and will impact the forecast area through Saturday morning. Tonight, at 8:30 PM I will have a live chat via COVERITLIVE, here where you can ask any question you’d like about the storm or even about future potential for this fall and winter.

Valid question! Clearly if you are looking for a generic forecast that covers the entire region, you can visit a host of free websites to [...]

The National Weather Service from Mount Holly has put out some “estimations” of how much snow has fall over the forecast area in the latest Winter Storm Warning. I’m not sure how accurate it is, but here is what they say:
WHEN THE SNOW FINALLY COMES TO AN END THIS AFTERNOON, THERE SHOULD
BE A TOTAL [...]

I’ve been getting a lot of emails today about the period from Sunday through Thursday. Actually, I’ve been getting a lot of emails over the past 4 days about this period. I want to just send an apology if you didn’t get a response, consider this post your response.
My confidence for the period of [...]

Yesterday morning, I posted a forecast and discussion about my concerns that at least light to possibly moderate snow will build into coastal New Jersey through Connecticut this evening with lighter snow’s to the north and west. I admit I did back off on that idea after seeing just about every model I could [...]

I have been working hard on this forecast and taking the pros and cons of each model solution. The overall idea here is that for much of the forecast area, this entire set up is not much of a big deal as the brunt of the storm will miss the region. However, I have some [...]
