A significant rainfall event is expected to begin late on Thursday and is expected to continue through early next week. All model guidance is coming into strong agreement on the development of a long duration rain event for all of the northern Mid Atlantic.
A strong upper low currently over the central Plains will slowly [...]

High pressure continues to remain just to the west of the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan area, creating a light and dry northwesterly wind and clear skies. The down sloping component of the northwesterly wind off the Appalachian Mountains will support warm temperatures once again with most locations in the 50’s to possibly [...]

There is plenty to discuss this morning in terms of storms, pattern development, and other interesting tidbits. Naturally, all eyes are glued to this weekend where a potential snow event is displayed on some guidance. I’m not as convinced of this potential, and I’ll explain why. The coastal storm that has battered much of the New Jersey coast with significant flooding and has produced heavy rain along much of the coast is starting to wind down. An inverted trough extending from the surface low pressure east of North Carolina continues to enhance low level forcing over much of the northern [...]

High pressure will continue to remain in control through this evening and into Tuesday morning with few to scattered cloud cover, dry conditions, and temperatures averaging near normal. The start of this week will be the best period of the next seven days.

Showers have organized this morning at a much faster rate than I thought and model guidance suggested over the eastern Great Lakes and western Pennsylvania this morning.
These showers are producing moderate rainfall at times and like making conditions over my old college, SUNY Oswego, very wet and uncomfortable.
These scattered showers are racing from southwest [...]

Tropical Storm Danny continues to strengthen this morning with convection developing around the new low level center of circulation. This is a VERY important development in the formation of Danny and future track of Danny. Tropical Storm Danny has reformed further to the north and is moving northwest at 10 mph.
For one, I think [...]

Once again, the weather pattern is acting more like mid October rather than mid July as a coastal storm begins to organize off the Southeast coast.
I studied all the model guidance from 12Z and 18Z this evening and found a basic overlying theme for the next 60 hours. The brunt of the heavy rain [...]

Partly cloudy skies can be expected through the morning. Scattered showers and strong to severe thunderstorms will develop this afternoon with the strongest thunderstorms capable of wind gusts over 55 mph, large hail, frequent lightning, heavy downpours, and an isolated tornado or water spout. The thunderstorms will rapidly reduce visibility and will have the [...]
