Rainfall Amounts Tuesday Night Through Wednesday

Rainfall amounts Tues-WedThe official rainfall amounts are in for the period of Tuesday night through Wednesday with impressive totals.  Extreme southeastern New Jersey came in with rainfall amounts over 3 inches as strong mesoscale banding produced a prolonged period of moderate to heavy rain over these locations.  Much of southern New Jersey received 2 to 3 inches of rain from this storm.  Meanwhile, much of the rest of the northern Mid Atlantic ranged from 1 to 2 inches of rain with the notable exception of teh southern Hudson Valley through northwestern Connecticut where only a half inch to an inch of rain was recored due to mesoscale influences limiting the intensity of the rainfall in these locations.

Cape May: 3.55″

Freehold: 1.47″

Hightstwon: 1.58″

Millville: 2.78

Sussex: 1.02″

Newark: 1.87″

Allentown: 1.81″

Philadelphia: 1.88″

West Chester: 1.63″

NY

Islip: 1.32″

Central Park, NYC: 1.91″

JFK: 1.63″

LGA: 1.60″

White Plains: .49″

CT

Bridgeport: 1.13″

Danbury: 0.74″

Norwich: 1.75″

For this month, many locations have recorded rainfall amounts over 5 inches across the northern Mid Atlantic which is running 2 to 3 inches above normal throughout the region.  Some locations even exceed 3 inches above normal.  An interesting note to ponder for the upcoming months.
