The official rainfall amounts are in for the period of Tuesday night through Wednesday with impressive totals.  Extreme southeastern New Jersey came in with rainfall amounts over 3 inches as strong mesoscale banding produced a prolonged period of moderate to heavy rain over these locations.  Much of southern New Jersey received 2 to 3 inches of rain from this storm.  Meanwhile, much of the rest of the northern Mid Atlantic ranged from 1 to 2 inches of rain with the notable exception of teh southern Hudson Valley through northwestern Connecticut where only a half inch to an inch of rain was recored due to mesoscale influences limiting the intensity of the rainfall in these locations.

For this month, many locations have recorded rainfall amounts over 5 inches across the northern Mid Atlantic which is running 2 to 3 inches above normal throughout the region.  Some locations even exceed 3 inches above normal.  An interesting note to ponder for the upcoming months.
