Another disturbance is dropping south through the Hudson Valley, Connecticut, and Long Island Sound this morning with a round of heavy rain this morning. This disturbance will continue to drop south and east and will exit the forecast area over the next 2 to 3 hours, impacting much of Connecticut and Long Island rush hour [...]

Through this up coming week, the weather conditions will mirror more of late September rather than mid June as high pressure positions itself over Maine and several waves of low pressure passes to the south. Conditions like yesterday’s heavy rain event may develop for any particular afternoon where some clearing develops and mesoscale boundaries [...]

The type of pattern the forecast area is being influenced by is at times difficult to forecast for in terms of timing showers and thunderstorms as there are several factors that mixing the atmosphere. For one, take a look at the latest visible satellite image.

The pattern is not going to break down quietly, I think that is for certain. First, I think it is important to discuss the trends of the models. I’m not [...]

I got some interesting questions, well two actually, that I want to answer this morning.
1. What is CSI?
Conditional Symmetric Instability is a meso or small scale form of lifting under conditions of strong thermal gradient intensification, like what we are seeing for this Thursday night and Friday. However, if you want a really in [...]

The medium range is going to be tough to forecast for, which is nothing new so far this fall. However, the overall idea remains that an arctic cold front will slowly push south and east through next week, which will result in variable weather conditions and the influence of waves of low pressure for the [...]

The pattern will be going into a brief state of reloading and relaxation for the last weekend of November, Thanksgiving weekend, and for the first five days of December. As a result, the storm track I’m expecting will run from the Mississippi Valley to over the coastal plain and into interior New England. In other [...]
